Swords and Shields
Swords and Shields is an old game from the Fire Nation. It was a game created to represent the Fire Nation’s 100 year war. Because of numerous generations being born during its time, the war even found its way into its culture and games.
It first made an appearance during the Seventh chapter, A Mysterious Girl, where Ryuzaki taught Ai how to play the game. It however never made an appearance during the actual RolePlay threads. There was a one shot story created by one of the Forum members, A Game of Swords and Shields, where it made another reappearance. This story however did not take place during the actual story, nor had any canonical value.
The game is fairly simple and is just Tic-tac-toe or noughts and crosses, with its named changed. There are two game pieces, an O and an X, and a three by three grid. The game can only be played by two actual players, one who plays as the swords and the other who plays as the shields.
The name received its new title, as the O resembles a simple shield drawing and the X appears to be two swords crossing each other. Each player takes a turn placing either one of their swords or shields on the grid. The game is considered finished, when one side gets a three row line horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. When there are also no more spots to mark, the game is considered a tie, if none of the pieces line up three in a row.
