Chapter 9: Treacherous Plans

Treacherous Plans is the ninth chapter of Avatar The Lost Book, Forgotten Chapters. It still uses a fourth of the thread Neutral Earth Kingdom Village, and every barracks thread except for Kozue’s, just like the previous chapters.

As always it was edited for proper grammar, spelling, organization, chronological order, and to avoid plot-holes. Since then the ninth chapter has been edited several times, its first being sometime during 2/20/09 and its last being on 4/24/10. These edits were done, in order for the beginning of the story to become understandable, flow easily, and without any plot holes.

The chapter beings during the same day, when Ai awakes. Although she still shows symptoms of the poison, is very lightheaded, and unaware of her surroundings, she still manages to be able to walk. This would later be stated to surprise Ryuzaki, as he knew he had given her more than enough to keep her bedridden for at least two or more days.

Despite her awkward health, Ai would leave the barracks in search of Ryuzaki, when she realizes she is alone. The unedited scenes of the hospital would be the pinnacle of Ai and her creators odd obliviousness.

Before Ai would arrive, Lita would inform Ryuzaki that she was part of the tournament. She had been given a special registration place, hinting her to be Kozue’s partner. Her delusions would continue to grow and stroke her ego during this conversation and many others in this chapter.

When Ai was escorted to the hospital due to flulike symptoms, Ryuzaki would watch over her, along with Lita, becoming suspicious as to why the poison failed to work. A very awkward and weird conversation would arise with Lita and Ai, which would ultimately result in Lita leaving the hospital annoyed, despite not being approved of dismissal.

The hospital scene would also be the first time where Ai would show a higher level of affection for Ryuzaki, where she kisses him, even if it is only on the cheek. She does so in appreciation for him taking care of her while she was sick. However, what she doesn’t know is that Ryuzaki was the one who bedriddened her as well.

Areo would also play a larger role in this chapter, as he confronts Lee after his visit at the hospital. Pressing for questions, by bribing Lee with food, he learns everything that Lee found out at the hospital. Such as the short girl not being Ai, but a weird female named Lita and her being attacked by wolves.

Not fully believing the entire story, but believing Lee, Areo ponders on the information. Knowing that the forest is north of the village and the only place wolves can be, he recollects a message from someone he refers to as ‘Master’, ‘…The forest is to the north of here…Fire Nation activity was seen in your premonition…‘to the south of a quaint village’…was it not master?’

Who his master is, is not revealed at this time. It is not until later chapters until his true identity arises. Areo will still refer to his master, whenever he ponders on difficult tasks or problems.

With Rosso’s feelings of Lee growing stronger, she couldn’t keep them to herself anymore. As the partners trained together, Rosso proposed going on a nature walk, where she would finally express herself openly. As she thought, it was the most romantic place to express such feelings.

Oblivious to the true reasons, Lee thought it would be interesting to see this lands nature, animals, and fauna. He would later gather the supplies, while running into the cabbage merchant and his infamous disasters, they would need for the trip, as Rosso attempted to get other people to accompany them.

The actual trip wouldn’t happen until the next day, during the tenth chapter, but Rosso was able to get Ryuzaki and Ai to join them after a lot of persuasion for both Ai and Ryuzaki. Ryuzaki did not like the idea, because secret Fire Nation operations were being done within the nature sections they were traveling through. However, ultimately Ai’s pestering won over.

Back at their barracks, Ai would reveal that she had recently seen her caretaker, Zito, after a year of searching. She also ran into two other friends recently, but it does not give much information as to who they are. The concepts of friends are further developed with Ai and Ryuzaki’s conversations.

Continuing to train, after Rosso had left, Lee was confronted by Lita. Her delusions only worsened, as she conversed with Lee. She believed that he was a weak warrior and that she was the most powerful tournament participant. After a short argument, Lee would leave, after realizing that she was not worth the time or effort. Lita’s true weaknesses would be revealed here, as she began to bleed internally, when her anger got the better of her.

During an unannounced midnight meeting between only Ryuzaki and Abarai, plans are set in motion for the peaceful nature hike. They plan to have a stage wolf attack, where Ryuzaki ultimately saves the day, and gains the trust of everyone, including Ai. He believes that Ai is too suspicious, or seems to know a little too much, so in order to weaken their suspicions, he will appear as the hero. The stranger who seems to have connections with Lee makes another appearance during this chapter, where nothing is revealed of them, but a quote. "A little trip huh?…perfect…” Hinting that they will also be part of the hike in some way.
