The Tournament Begins is the second chapter of Avatar The Lost Book, Forgotten Chapters. It uses the entire thread The First Battle Begins, which was edited for proper grammar, spelling, organization, chronological order, and to avoid plot-holes.

Since then the second chapter has been edited several times, its first being on 2/18/09 and its last being on 5/23/10. These edits were done, in order for the beginning of the story to become understandable, flow easily, and without any plot holes.

The chapter takes off, where the first chapter ended, before the first battle against Ryuzaki & Ai and Borong & Zhong's fight commences. The tournament, which was once described as desolate, transforms into a busy landmark.

The tournament audiences and participants show much encouragement for their favorite teams, including Borong & Zhong's. However, not much is known about Ai and Ryuzaki or their team, which leads many to disregard them as formidable opponents/adversaries.

Each team has their own duo name or will soon after the tournament is underway, due to regulations. Famous team names listed in this chapter are Team Edge, Art, and Tornado. Although it is not mentioned, Borong & Zhong's team name is Team Boulder.

Characters such as Rosso, Lee, Seth, Roister, and Kozue provide little to the chapter, except for a few comical commentaries or remarks from time to time.

From the start of the fight, Ryuzaki and Ai are already at a disadvantage due to their opponents size and strength. Two 400 pound overly muscled men, who can lift boulders with relative ease, face off against average weighted teenagers. Not only are they mismatched due to their weight, but because of their experience. While it is not hinted at Ryuzaki's prowess before the battle is underway, it is easily recognizable that Ai is not well-suited for fighting.

As a result this two on two match escalates into a one on two match. Despite these disadvantages, Ryuzaki was able to quickly take out his opponents singlehandedly, even when his partner foolishly injures herself. This alone caused shock in the crowd and instantly made him one of their many favorite participants.

Due to Borong and Zhong being unconscious, the match went to Ryuzaki and Ai, thus ending the first battle with a flabbergasted audience. Soon after, it was announced that the second battle would be Rosso & Lee against Akem & Roy known as Team Art, which would be held on the following day. The fight however would not happen until the fourth chapter.

The chapter would end with the tournament staff providing lodging barracks for every participant, as Ryuzaki carried Ai, who sprained her foot, off of the field.
